"West Lane" i.e. Newmarket Lane Nos 84 - 92, showing far building a house then after made into a Blacksmith shop mainly used to shoe the pit pony's from Newmarket Silkstone pit then just down the road. The  pony's field also down the road opposite, the underground pony's lived in stables down the mine came up for four weeks in August when the mine closed for annual holidays. They where blinkered so as not to blind them in then bright sunlight, they use to run and kick out all around the small field some say because they was overjoyed & to play some say because the bright sunlight drove them mad, who knows.
